For the new site we refreshed the digital brand (including type styles, colour palette, and all product imagery), and focused on delivering a seamless user experience. The site brings imagery to the forefront and uses refined design details to create elegant and elevated environments to present the products and collections.
The updated product imagery made a significant impact on the site, which we addressed across all categories (lighting, furniture, hardware and mirrors). A challenge was that the existing imagery had all been shot very inconsistently (different angles, scale, backgrounds, and types of shots) but due to the bespoke nature of the products, they were not available to reshoot. We pivoted and turned our attention to repro: cutting out all products and placing onto a consistent soft gray background, editing lighting so there’s a single light source, and achieving a uniformity in scale and cropping as best as possible.
Another aspect of the brief was to showcase the brand’s craft through the lens of their foundry and workshop. Underscoring the bespoke nature of their products and the handcrafted quality of each item, we highlighted content and media from the foundry that gives users a peek behind the curtain at some truly artisanal processes.
As with Collier Webb, we tackled the same brief George Spencer Designs delivering a brand new website coupled with a refreshed digital brand. The site's list of features are long but focused on making it easier for clients to find the products and details they need and to make enquiries to the sales teams efficiently. Just some of the functionality includes: trade account application, improved enquiries process, product configuration tools, custom forms, CRM integration, multi-store, showroom finder, user group based pricing, advanced search and suggestions, interactive PDP product gallery zoom and new speed, caching and image optimisation.
Art direction for the reshooting of product imagery, with a focus on giving the user as much information as they could get from the showroom experience. Shooting fabrics with a bit of a ripple rather than flat to showcase the fabric, giving references for scale (especially for patterned fabrics), close-up shots and zoom function to showcase the quality and fibres of the fabric, and including a lifestyle image showing the fabric in-use whenever possible.
Important to the brand was that we heavily feature their lifestyle imagery and video created as part of each collection launch throughout the site, Lovely ambient videos play on loop to create a dramatic and atmospheric presence on site, coupled with stylishly shot vignettes of the fabrics and wallcoverings in-situ.
